In 1986, The nation of Arstotzka has collapsed into civil war after years of civil unrest from internal political terrorism and foreign espionage.
On the 10th of February, elements of the Arstozkan military launched a coup which only partially succeeded, creating civil war in the nation, which has rapidly caused the near collapse of the government.
With both Western and Eastern great powers having great interests in the nation due to its buffer state status, they are watching the crisis with growing concern. A week following the coup, American, British and some N.A.T.O members met to discuss readying rapid reaction forces for a potential emergency deployment from units in West Germany.
This decision is made for them on the 20th, when at midnight, WARSAW PACT forces begin rushing their own units into East Arstotzka,
Soviet forces are engaged at random from both sides of the Arstozkan civil war, and partisans keen to avoid soviet rule. This leads to a shoot first policy on any forces they are uncertain of.
February 21st, At dawn, elements of N.A.T.O 1st Broadsword Battlegroup decided to roll into West Arstotzka and rush forward whatever forces they can into Arstozka. They meet little resistance from local Arstozkan forces, which are still undecided about whom to back in a rapidly developing situation.
With both sides rushing forward, they are bound to meet somewhere. One such location is the vital military airfield in Grestin. Reported to be held by a mix of Arstotzkan military and guerrilla forces, as NATO and Warsaw Pact forces race ever closer, stretched far from their supply lines, and weary from fighting partisans, it may well only be a matter of time before the first shots of World War 3 are fired.
Your role in this conflict will determine how it plays out,
You must use teamwork, individual skill in battle, and diplomacy to secure the loyalty of local Arstozkan forces.
Destroy targets of opportunity and secure vital intelligence to give your side the winning edge at the dawn of a whole new hot war.
The only question is whose side will you be on?
